Colorado Apostille
Colorado apostilles are issued by the Colorado Secretary of State in Denver. An apostille certifies the signature and seal of the official who signed your document, so a foreign government will accept it. Colorado does not issue apostilles online. Requests go by mail or in person, which is the step we handle for you.

Which Colorado documents can be apostilled
The document must carry at least one of these: a Colorado notary's signature, a certification from Colorado Vital Records, or a certification from a Colorado county clerk.
-
Birth and death certificates from Colorado Vital Records (CDPHE)
-
Marriage licenses from the county Clerk and Recorder
-
Divorce decrees and court records certified by the district court that issued them
-
Documents notarized by a Colorado notary, such as powers of attorney, affidavits and consent letters
-
Diplomas and transcripts, once properly notarized
What gets Colorado documents rejected
-
Blank spaces. Every blank must be filled in or crossed out before notarization.
-
The wrong notarial wording. The notary certificate must state the state, county and date in English, and use the correct notarial act.
-
Powers of attorney with legal conclusions added by the notary. Colorado rejects these unless the document is revised.
-
Notarized copies of records Colorado issues itself. A notary can't certify a copy of a Colorado birth certificate. Order a certified copy from Vital Records instead.
-
Proof of life letters. Colorado notaries can't certify that someone is alive.
-
Stamped or photocopied signatures. Signatures must be original.
